WHO ARE WE? · DEPARTMENT 02

STARTED BY TWO PEOPLE WHO SPEND TOO MUCH TIME IN SAUNAS

A nurse.
A fashion
professional.

01

We are sauna enthusiasts who liked almost everything about the experience—apart from what the heat was doing to our hair and scalp.

The obvious solution was a sauna hat. Unfortunately, most of the options looked like something a wizard might wear while collecting tolls under a bridge.

01

The health person

One of us is a registered nurse with a background in biomedical science. He understood why insulating the head in intense heat made sense—but could not understand why the available designs had barely moved on.

02

The clothing person

The other works professionally in fashion supply chains and product development. She understood materials, construction, sourcing and how to turn a strange idea into something people might genuinely want to wear.

THE SHARED CONCLUSION

We wanted the function of a traditional sauna hat without having to look like we had joined a small forest-based religion.

THE PROBLEM, AS WE SAW IT

Sauna hats
worked. They just looked
ridiculous.

We did not want to choose between protecting our heads and looking vaguely normal. So we stopped waiting for someone else to make the modern version.

01

Great for the body.
Rough on the head.

We loved long sauna sessions, but not the dry hair, overheated scalp and general feeling that everything above the eyebrows was being slowly cooked.

Traditional sauna hats exist for a reason: insulation can make intense heat feel far more manageable around the head.

02

Technically useful.
Visually alarming.

Most sauna hats still followed the same traditional pointed or oversized shapes. Functional, certainly. Understated, not so much.

We wanted to walk into a modern bathhouse without looking like we had arrived to perform a minor spell.

03

Why had nobody
made a normal one?

Hats had evolved. Sportswear had evolved. Technical clothing had evolved. Yet sauna headwear still seemed oddly resistant to the idea of looking good.

The solution felt obvious: keep the insulation, rethink the shape and make something that belonged in the present.

THE ANSWER

Well, now
there is.

KYUIK combines the insulating purpose of a sauna hat with familiar cap shapes, proper materials and a design you do not need to explain before wearing.

It is not medical equipment. It is not a miracle cooling device. It is simply sauna headwear brought into the modern world.
